September feels so very long ago. It started out with our final vacation of the summer, and quickly filled up with all of our favorite activities.
Our last trip to Island Park included freezing temperatures and a mom with a bad attitude. It can be a lot of work to camp with three little humans, and sometimes my heart just isn't in it like it should be. Good thing we had such great company to help us through. And in the end I know three little girls who had a blast and I guess that's the reason I keep going back.
After that nice relaxing vacation we jumped right into our new schedule of school, homework, soccer (we're not mad that only lasted a month), dance and singing group. It's a whirlwind most weeks, but we seemed to all find our groove quickly enough. Stella loves school and thinks she's kind of cool now that she has homework. Eliza usually finds some "homework" of her own to work on, too. I mean, she is a big preschooler now, and she couldn't have been more excited about her long-awaited first day of school.
Thankfully we had a few moments to enjoy the little things in life, like trips to the library and our new favorite treat--sugar cookies from Sips. We even spent a day in Utah making salsa with the crew. You know it's serious business when twelve women, protective eye wear and plastic gloves are involved.
It's a fun and crazy phase of life we currently find ourselves in. Our pictures aren't glamorous, our hair is often messy, and we could all work on loving each other a little better. But we have happy, healthy kids, great friends, and beautiful place to call home. It's more than I could have hoped for when I pictured my life as a sixteen-year-old girl. Now the daily goal is to not let the hard moments and bad days make me forget just what a happy life it is.
