A Few More Things About July

The middle of the summer was obviously full of fun for the Palmer family.  But we did do a few other things besides hang out in the mountains, at the lake or with our families.  Looking at these pictures I swear they were all taken yesterday, when in fact it's been almost a month since some of these events took place.  Since I'm pregnant it's hard to say if I am happy or sad about the way time is flying.  I can't wait for this little babe to get here, and yet I know when she does it's going to be crazy town and I am sort of scared to death.  Hopefully the transition will be much smoother than I am envisioning right now.

July was mostly spent in the car or at some place other than home.  Our longest period of time at home was ten days, with a few two day stretches mingled in there full of laundry and re-packing for the next adventure.  Those precious days spent at home were spent washing the car/having a water fight, playing dress up and enjoying summer with a backyard.  Stella is pretty easy going when it comes to an afternoon outside- she just needs her water bottle, music and snacks.  And of course for mom to take a picture to put in Chatbooks.  Apparently I am raising a couple of divas.

I finally took the plunge and started potty training Eliza.  She has honestly done fairly well, and I have been much more relaxed about the entire process the second time around.  Although that first week felt like the never ending story of laundry thanks to a few expected accidents from Eliza, Stella's night training efforts, the remnants of a weekend camping trip and a morning full of puke.  I was sort of starting to lose my mind by Wednesday, but thankfully the rest of the week went much better.
A few days before we started the process we made a trip to our beloved Target to pick a "Potty Prize."  Everyone's favorite store just happened to have all of their Sofia the First toys on clearance, so we ended up scoring a floating palace for half off.  Back at home it was placed high on a shelf until E earned fourteen stickers on her chart.  She received a sticker each time she went an entire day without an accident, went poop in the potty or woke up dry in the mornings.  I am happy to say the chart is now full and both girls have been enjoying Eliza's new toy.  I am not sure when I will ever be able to say she is officially potty trained (I swear it took a full year with Stella), but I feel good about where we are.

And finally, let it be known we have eaten far too many treats at the Palmer house this summer.  Between the pregnant mama and coping with the exhaustion and emotions that always seem to accompany July, we have found lots of excuses for ice cream and baked goods.
C'est la vie.
