Sing Along

You may recall me mentioning a certain date night that a certain husband planned for a certain postpartum mommy. It was to be our first big night out sans Miss Stella and for many of you moms out there you know that first night away seems to turn into a joyous yet tragic event all at the same time. Thankfully I knew we were leaving the babe in very capable hands and to our great joy she was super baby that night. She really knows when to be on her best behavior (i.e. plane rides, babysitters, etc.) So a big thank you to the Humberts for letting us escape for a night away.
The night in question began with dinner at home since we knew the second half of our adventure could drag on for quite a while. And we were right. 5 hours later we were finally picking up our little girl, but it really was a great time singing along with Craig Morgan and Carrie Underwood at the Shot.

You will have to excuse the quality of the pictures, although they aren't half bad for being taken from literally the farthest point in the arena. Nosebleed section is just how we roll.
The above photo is Carrie and one of her opening acts, Craig Morgan. Mr. Morgan sings quite a few of your quintessential cheese ball country songs, but I have to admit he was a really great entertainer. While Carrie was amazing with that huge powerful voice of hers, when she took the stage it was a show. And that is what I was expecting. But Craig Morgan just sang and had a good time. I really could sense that he loves what he does and just seemed so thankful for the opportunity to be doing it. He even hopped into the audience and took pictures with fans while he was singing. Sadly he didn't make it all the way up to section 232, but it was still fun to see him being so involved with his fans.
The other opening act was Sons of Sylvia. Basically their lead singer looked like Elvis, they couldn't seem to decide which genre of music they wanted to sing, and I liked one song. Their lead singer did come out and sing an awesome duet with Carrie later so that made me like Mr. Elvis a little bit more.

One funny side story...that day on Facebook I put the following as my status: Excited to sing with Carrie Underwood tonight. Not excited to leave my baby for multiple hours. After a few hours I had a few comments wishing me luck for when I took the stage and asking how in the world I got the opportunity to sing with Carrie. I was laughing pretty hard. I did make it sound like I would literally be on stage with her so I had to adjust my status to ensure everyone I was merely singing along with Ms. Underwood, although I would have loved to be up there getting drowned out by her amazing pipes!

Having a fun time, but still missing our little girl. When Carrie sang All American Girl I might have almost cried.

She did get a little closer to us during some songs thanks to her magical flying blue Chevy. She was literally strapped to her microphone stand so she wouldn't fall off. I can't say I blame her, though. I always get really scared when I am flying around in the back of my Chevy.

This was her first outfit of the night. Let's just say Ryan was not a fan.

She might not have tagged along, but somehow she was even more cute when we got back!
