I Lost Count

Of my blessings that is. Today is Thanksgiving 2009. As I sit here reflecting on the past year and all I have to be grateful for the hard part is not making a list, it is deciding where the list stops. So I will leave a few thoughts here for you all to see and for me to remember in 15 years when I read this again. But each minute, each second I think of five more so I am going to spend the day today relishing in turkey, mashed potatoes, pie, and thoughts of gratitude.

Right now I am grateful that while I type this very sentence I am listening to family bustle around the kitchen with the beautiful, snow capped mountains peaking through the window.

At this moment I am grateful that I just spent an hour with my still-pregnant best friend talking about our little girls, discovering that we have even MORE matching outfits for our daughters, and taking pictures of our pre-turkey dinner large bellies.

Right now I am thankful for medicine. For the medicine and doctors and technology that have kept my dad with us for the past 3 years and that continue to prolong his life. For the medical advances that allow us to hear our little girl's heartbeat and see her tiny feet and hands during ultrasounds. For the field of medicine and health that allow my husband to gain an education and me to teach underprivileged women and children the importance of nutrition, all the while providing an income to put food on our table.

I am thankful for the memories I have been able to make with my husband and best friend this year. Myrtle Beach, Mexico, Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York, and Connecticut. I am thankful for a good car that got us to all of those places safely and allowed for priceless memories to be made.

When I think of my blessings how can I not count my family and friends? Each of those blessings alone causes me to lose count and have to start my list over. For my husband, my daughter, my Moms and Dads, Sisters, and Brothers. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends who make their home in the mountains and friends who bleed Scarlett and grey. You have each touched and continue to bless my life each and every day.

I am grateful for the gospel and the peace and comfort and knowledge it gives my life. For the ability I have to see the Lord's hand guiding me with every step I take and decision I make. For the opportunity to have missionary experiences and to share the happiness the gospel brings to me with those I meet each day.

What are you grateful for right now?

I too am grateful for many things... I will just list one. I am grateful for the technology that makes blogging possible be cause it is through that, that I am able to keep in daily contact with those I love, but don't get to see as often as I would like.
