Five months young and causing me to believe every time-is-moving-too-fast cliche in the book. This third time around is flying! But she just keeps getting cuter, and nobody is mad about that.
Five months was a hard one for Ivy Jo, or maybe more accurately for the mom. Most of the issues came from sleep, or the lack thereof. Because she had turned into a rolling machine, it was necessary to transition from the swaddle during naps and at night. We also decided it was time for her to sleep in the crib in her own room when we moved into the new house, which may or may not have played into things. Who really knows when it comes to these babies? Obviously not me, and this is my third rodeo.
Basically girlfriend went from sleeping 5-8 hour stretches to sleeping 2-3 hour stretches. As soon as we would get her to sleep and in her crib, she would roll over to her stomach and couldn't get comfortable. Or she would flail those adorable arms of hers around and wake herself up. It's been a learning curve, but some nights I think we are making progress. I know it's a phase and that she will sleep sooner or later (at least I'm telling myself that), and I am trying to just relax about it and take it as it comes (or doesn't).
Little Miss found her feet, one of my favorite baby milestones, and enjoys giving them a thorough inspection whenever she gets the chance. She still enjoys everything in sight to join the party in her mouth - fingers, binkies, and boobs included. I can't even tell you how often she is nursing, because I don't even keep track this time around. I am her main source of comfort and her only source of nourishment, so that should give you a good idea of how often you can find us on the couch or in the rocking chair. Man, I am pretty sure I am doing everything NOT by the book this time around, so let's all hope that doesn't backfire on me someday.
Five to eight months is one of my favorite stages with my kids, and Ivy is proving to be no different. Some days I feel like she is the happiest, easiest baby in the world; while the next day I feel like she is a grumpy pants who can't be left alone for two seconds. So basically she is a normal babe who just so happens to make all of our world go round.
We love you Ivy Jo!

She is precious. Like all of your girls! I love them all!
I am glad we live close to each other and we figure out this "rodeo" day by day!
