As unbelievable as it may be, our sweet little Eliza Scott has been blessing our lives for three whole years! It never ceases to amaze me how fast each year seems to come and go. This girl is just an absolute joy. She brings each one of us so much happiness, it's almost ridiculous. Like she gets away with just about anything.
Things I want to remember about three-years-old:
You still love your blanket, but keep reassuring us that you will share them with Ivy when she is born. Dad wants to take them away, but watching you snuggle it into the crook of your neck or chew on the corner (a new development that we should probably stop), I can't help but feel like maybe you will still be my baby for just a little bit longer.
We just spent a weekend with cousin Gibson, and you guys are officially the best of "frenemies." It's obvious he adores you, but it the fact that he is a two-year-old boy means that affection comes in the form of stealing toys, football tackles and anything else that could possibly drive you crazy. Every once in a while we caught glimpses of the love while the two of you giggled and held hands at the table. It's so fun when your cousins are your best friends, and I hope you never forget how lucky you are to have each other.
You are a terrible eater lately. It's mostly just the physical act of sitting still and putting the food in your mouth that seems to be the problem, as you will still eat almost any food. Said food just has to be delivered to your mouth by the hand of mom or dad or big sister. You would much rather get down and play, and once big sister has finished off her meal and moved on to the next thing you really struggle. Here is to hoping you grow out of this phase quickly, because if you still need spoon fed in a month you may never eat again.
If you could pick any toy in the house to play with, it would probably be whatever your sister is currently enjoying. Once that need has been satisfied (and argument solved) you happily move on to playing for hours with your princess figurines. You love to drive them around in our yard sale school bus, taking them on adventures that always involve a handsome prince.
You are mostly potty trained. You stay dry all day long and even wake up dry in the mornings. But, like your big sister, going poop on the potty is a challenge. I know it will come, but it will cause me to go slightly crazy in the process.
The past few weeks have been full of extra emotion and tears anytime you are separated from your mom or dear sister. Favorite activities have become triggers for one of your major meltdowns. These meltdowns usually occur when you are very tired and suddenly become embarrassed or nervous about something. You cry very hard and it can sometimes last for a half hour or more, with your face buried into my shoulder and those heartbreaking sobs that leave you a little breathless. Lately these episodes don't just happen when you're tired (or maybe you are just really tired? You haven't napped in a year, so...) but have occurred almost every time you have to go to the gym daycare, dance class, nursery or if mom leaves to run an errand without you. If Stella remains by your side it seems to help. You love her so much and I know deep down you want to be as brave and social as she is, but the reality is you are much more reserved and sensitive to the attention you receive from others. Also, you growl a lot. Anytime you are frustrated, mad or feel like we aren't giving you enough attention at the moment you scrunch up your face and let out the most exasperated growl.
Mostly I just want to remember how adorable, sweet, smart and fun you are. You love to be silly and make people laugh, you love pretending you're a baby (that could lead to problems in the coming weeks), and you couldn't seem more excited about becoming a big sister soon. Thanks to time spent in Utah the week before your big day, it felt like we celebrated you for an entire month. But that just meant we got extra opportunity to watch the joy on your face every time someone sang you "Happy Birthday."
October 27th was a fun day celebrating you by going out for breakfast, opening presents, watching a movie at the theater, and having friends over for cake and ice cream at the end of the day. You requested "tomatoes and carrots" for your birthday dinner, and asked all day long when we were "going to your birthday?" I hope you felt our love for you that day and every other day we are blessed to have you in our lives. You are our favorite.

Eliza Says:
One day she was sitting on the potty and sang every word of "What Does the Fox Say?"
After Ryan left for work one morning, "I miss dad! He's a good guy!"
I helped Eliza do something and she looked at me with the sweetest smile and says, "Thank you my sweet mama!"
After giving her a good pep-talk before attempting to go poop on the potty she said, "I'll do my best, mom. Pinkie promise!"
I was giving Eliza a slice of french bread to eat with her soup and she told me she didn't want any butter. When I set the bread down in front of her she said angrily, "I didn't want butter!" I told her that it didn't have butter on it and she asks, "What's this white stuff?" Um, that would be the bread. My kids don't eat much white bread, I guess.
After walking in from the another room and seeing Stella and I, "Hey, girlfriends!"
