What We've Been Up To

So this post may be a little long. It includes lots of pictures, plus a slide show at the end. I put all of the Chicago/Nauvoo/Ohio trip pictures into a slide show because there are a ton of them. They are a little harder to look at that way so I am sorry! If there are any you really want to see better I will email them to you or something! Back to us...We are finally in our apartment! That is right I am actually posting this from our home computer in our new office! The apt. managers called us on Tuesday and informed us we could come sign the paper and get our keys. And by paper I mean like 25. You would think we were buying a house or something- I wish!- not moving into an apartment. But they are actually partially government funded and we all know that the gov. loves paperwork. So that night we rented another moving truck (let's just say this one cost us MUCH less) and got some help from some of our great new friends who live in our ward. Between the four guys and me we had the storage unit loaded into the truck in about an hour. We got a smaller truck and it was packed! I don't know how they made it all fit. Half hour later everything was in the apartment. Also on Tuesday we got our car registered in Ohio and got our licenses switched. We were seriously at the DMV for 3 hrs!! It took forever, but it was good we did it now. We took the day Wednesday to unpack lots and now all we have left is to put up decorations which is what I love to do. It is really hard for me to just partially unpack. I wanted to have everything unpacked, put away, and decorations up on Wednesday but we were exhausted from just getting done what we did. We ended buying a washer and dryer from some people who were having a moving sale. We just saw the sign on the road and went and checked it out. We got a pretty good deal for them so hopefully they work for a while. I am sooo happy to finally have a w&d. We have not had one so far in our married life, and we were always able to do our laundry at Ryan's parents which was great, but I am excited to be able to just throw a load in while I am doing other things.
Friday we drove to Louisville, KY to hang out with Ryan's brother Greg and his wife Karly. They are doing summer sales there for the summer. We got to Louisville (which is about 3.5 hrs from Dublin) at about 10:30 am on Friday. We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory first. Of course Ryan and Greg both loved it. It was actually pretty cool and a fun thing to see. Next we had some great lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory. I love the spumoni ice cream you get at the end! SO delicious! After lunch we decided to go see Churchill Downs. They were actually having races, but they didn't start for a while after we arrived so we just looked around the place. It was so big and really cool. Finally we drove to Cincinnati which is about 1.5 hrs. from Louisville back into Ohio. We went to the Reds/Red Sox game. It was great fun and Karly and I loved watching Ryan and Greg enjoy themselves so much. The Red Sox lost :(, but it was still really fun and I loved watching the Red Sox play in person. Now we just need to go to Fenway!
One more thing that happened this last week is that Ryan got a job. He is the official shelf stocker at Kroger Supermarket. That's right folks a college degree gets you $7.15/hr stocking grocery store shelves. It really won't be that bad since he is just working there until school starts, and really he would have a hard time getting a much better job. But at least we now have some sort of income. The job situation for me is still a little up in the air. It looks like I pretty much have a job at the Medical Center on campus working as a diet tech, but I don't know yet when I will be able to start. They are waiting for some student employees who just graduated to leave for new jobs. So in the mean time I am not sure what I am going to do. I might take my resume to a temp agency and see what happens there. My school situation is more figured out now which is a relief. I will start doing some supervised practice soon, but no actual classes this summer. I have been feeling kind of guilty that we moved out here so early for my school and yet I am not even going to start doing anything for a while still. But we are enjoying ourselves and have done and seen so much. We miss you all, but have loved spending so much time with one another before our crazy lives really begin!
At the Louisville Slugger Museum sitting on a baseball mitt if you can't tell.
Churchill Downs. Ryan bet $100000000 on Seabiscut. He will be helping in the horse stalls for the next little while.
At the game
On the grounds at Churchill Downs
I loved how the stadium was right on the River. Big steam boats went by a couple of times during the game. I think it would be awesome to go on a ride on one.

Ryan and Greg took a few swings in the batting cages. Ryan hit with Manny Ramirez's bat and Greg used A Rod's.
Ryan thought this old bat was cool. The handle was as thick as the top of the bat.

The pictures were so fun to see! I'm glad y'all had so much fun. What are you up to now? Have you both got jobs yet, or still just getting settled? We miss you guys too. It's still weird to think that when we get back to Utah, you won't be there. But, I'm so glad we're great friends now so that we can keep in touch and pick back up when you come back! :)

I loved looking at all the pictures but it also makes me sad thinking about your new life and that I won't be a part of it. But I hate to break it to you Tar, you can't get rid of me no matter how far you move. When Ryan hears that it will most likely be the first time you see him cry. But its true, I just love you too much!
