The past week was spent showing visitors some of the best Ohio has to offer. Grandma and Grandpa P decided to come spend some of Ryan's fall break with us and we sure had fun! I think we fit as much as we could in a few short days, but our tired feet and sleepy eyes were totally worth it.
Of course we spent some time close to home and showed Jeff and Teresa around campus and the dental school. We hung out with Brutus, ate lunch, and shopped for Buckeye gear til we dropped.
The next morning we hopped in the car and took the short drive to Northeastern Ohio and visited some of it's beautiful countryside. To many of the locals this area is simply referred to as "Amish Country".
We stayed in an awesome B&B with this fantastic wrap around porch. Teresa would have slept out there if we would have let her.
We visited an old Amish home and school house, took a ride in one of the traditional horse drawn buggies (and passed quite a few on the highway), and visited a cheese factory.
There was a lot more to see and do, but we just didn't make it to everything.
That's okay with Ryan and I because the Amish Country/Kirtland tour is pretty much your standard itinerary when family and friends come to visit. This was actually our first time for both, but I am sure it won't be our last.
We, being the trailblazers that we are, decided to add an extra stop on the traditional tour by stopping in Canton and visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Granted this was more for Jeff and Ryan's viewing pleasure than the gals, but it was still a fun experience. I like football and actually know way more random facts about it then I should so it was pretty fun. I kept thinking I should send pictures to my Dad and Jace to make them jealous that I was there, but then I remembered my texts would probably go unanswered :)
We finally made it to Kirtland and it was definitely worth the wait. Personally I felt the Spirit very strong as we learned more about the early history of The Church and literally walked where the Prophet Joseph Smith walked. We all know my emotions are a little bit on the unstable side right now, but I like to think that allowed me an extra measure of the Spirit as I focused on the history of my surroundings.
A few hours were spent lounging around the TV (and it's 4 channels) at home and surviving tornado warnings.
Stella was extra spoiled with loves, kisses, and gifts from her grandparents; and mom and dad were spoiled with gas money, yummy food, and great company.
This was Grandpa's first visit to Ohio and the first time grandma saw more than the inside of our apartment so we were very glad to have them here! We hope they had a great time as well and that they will come back again soon!

Looks like a great trip for the Palmers. We'll have to make our way up there one of these days. I'm jealous about the HOF in Canton, that would be pretty sweet. I guess until we gather in Ohio or Louisiana in the near future we could skype it up.
